  11 October 2009Kennington Juniors A 3-2 Woodnesborough

Woodnesborough Under 13 Divison 4 team suffered another bad day at the office against Kennington Juniors in the East Kent Youth League. Starting strong, Boro went 1 up in the third minute from a beautifully struck goal by Dean Adams, closely followed by a stonker from Mitchell Bowman in the 10th.

Boro then became complacent and Kennington, whose heads never dropped, came back at them with three goals before the half time whistle. The second half was no different, with end to end play and chances missed by both team. Final whistle and Kennington took the three points. Man of the match was Harry Cowell who tirelesly worked hard in midfield.

  24 January 2010Woodnesborough 1-2 Highfield United

Woodnesborough’s U13 had their first home game for 3 months against Highfield United on Sunday. Both teams have been evenly matched over the last two seasons so it was going to be a tough fight from the start. The game was fought end to end during the first half, with Highfield having 2 goals disallowed due to Boro’s defence keeping their strikers honest with the offside trap.

By half time the score was still 0-0. Early on into the second half, Boro gave away 2 soft goals but the game didn’t end there and Boro fought back with a sublime goal from Edward Rhodes. During the last 15 minutes, Boro had the run of play but with the ball bouncing off the keeper and the posts it proved not to be Boro’s day. Strong attacking by man of the match Alex Williams, a superb defensive effort by Mitchell Bowman and Charlie Wedl ensured that the game remained finger bitingly tense. Final score 2 – 1 to Highfield.
